All of us get stressed from the day-to-day
pressures that we experience. A little stress is good
too much stress can be detrimental to our health. Having healthy
outlets for stress can help you find a healthy balance in your
life.
Make Yourself And
Your Health A Priority
Studies have shown that high stress levels
make it more difficult to lose weight. In addition, prolonged
stress can lead to a weight gain by increasing appetite. When
we're stressed, many hormones play a factor in regulating
our appetite and our weight. Hormones like cortisol and insulin
get out of balance when we don't take care of ourselves. Their
imbalance can cause unwelcomed weight changes.
Taking Care Of Yourself Is Important
Avoid alcohol,
cigarettes, and caffeine these can cause cortisol
levels to rise and eventually lead to an increase in your
appetite.
Get plenty of
rest make sure you get the sleep you need.
A sleep-deprived body is a stressed body. Again, the increased
levels of cortisol will work against you.
Drink your water
Our bodies need adequate water to perform the basic
functions, such as metabolism of nutrients, blood flow,
urine production, and lubrication of joints.
Avoid processed
foods Foods that are more refined such as
white rice, white flour, and instant oatmeal, are low in
fiber. When we eat them, our bodies experience a rapid increase
in insulin levels. Dramatic spikes and dips in your insulin
levels will likely lead to increased hunger. Choosing high
fiber, whole grain foods will help you avoid rapid changes
in insulin levels.
Relax try
yoga, breathing techniques, or visualization techniques
as a means of relaxation. Taking the time to relax is healthy
for your mind and body.
Finding a balance in your life with good
nutrition, regular activity and stress management, will make
you feel better, so you can achieve your weight loss goals.
